Questions people ask
- Who is eligible for cancer treatment support?
- Patients across India being treated by a hospital or doctor registered with the Trust, whose families cannot meet the cost of care. We assess each case individually and verify the diagnosis and the bill with the treating hospital. If you are not sure whether someone qualifies, call us. We would far rather look at the case with you than have you decide against asking.
- How much of the cost does the Trust cover?
- We pay the total treatment expenses at an approved hospital, or ₹2,00,000, whichever of the two is lower, and it goes to the hospital directly, so the family never has to carry it there. If the treatment costs more than that, our support team works with other donors and charitable organisations to help meet the rest.
- What treatment does the Trust fund?
- Diagnostics, staging and PET scans, chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, cancer-specific medicines, pain and palliative support while the patient is in treatment, and emergency medical assistance.
- Which hospitals can the patient be treated at?
- We work with a panel of hospitals and doctors registered with the Trust, across India. The panel grows as more hospitals and oncologists join it. Call us and we will tell you whether the hospital treating your patient is on it.
- Is the money given to the family?
- We pay the treating hospital directly, against verified bills, so that a family already carrying a great deal is not asked to carry the money too. It keeps the patient and the donor equally safe.
- Where and when are meals served?
- Every day at 4:00 pm, at Sai Baba Mandir, Sector 56, Sohna Road, Gurugram or Gate 8, Tata Primanti, Sector 72, Gurugram. It is one of the two on any given day. We serve more than 100 people a day, and the meals are cooked and distributed in partnership with the Need For the Hour NGO. More locations are being added.
- How do I refer someone?
- Call the Trust or write to us with the patient's name, the hospital treating them, the diagnosis, and a contact number for the family. You do not need to be a relative or a doctor. Hospitals, oncologists and medical social workers can use the referral form on this site.
- What documents does the Trust need?
- An Aadhaar card, the diagnosis or histopathology report, the doctor's prescription, the treatment estimate or hospital bills, income details if available, and a contact number for the family. Do not wait until you have all of it. Call us with what you have and we will help you gather the rest.
- Does the Trust help patients of every community?
- Yes. The Trust supports cancer patients irrespective of religion, caste, race, gender, community or social background. The only things we look at are medical need and financial need.
- Is my donation tax-deductible?
- Yes. The Trust holds approval under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, and issues a receipt and certificate for every donation.
- Can I donate from outside India?
- Not yet. The Trust does not hold FCRA registration, so it cannot accept donations from foreign sources. If you hold an Indian passport and live abroad, do check your own eligibility first; we would be glad to hear from you.
- Who audits the Trust, and can I see the accounts?
- Varma Anil and Associates are the Trust's tax and audit consultants. Audited results for the financial year 2025–26 will be published on this website soon, and after every audit thereafter, so anyone can read them. You do not have to be a donor to ask.
